Association des Producteurs de Porcs du Pays-d'Enhaut
Created in 1996 by a dozen pork producers who raise pigs on alpine pastures, this association promotes traditional pork production.
The pork producers in this region also produce L’Etivaz cheese made from the milk produced on alpine pastures. The whey (petit-lait) left over from the cheese production is fed to the pigs ensuring good quality pork. The Authentic Products of the Pays-d’Enhaut label is only given to farmers who raised pigs in this region and who have raised their pigs following strict guidelines.
Farmers sell their pork directly from the farm or at the butcher shops in L’Etivaz or Château-d’Oex.
The majority of pork sales on the farms is seasonal and most of the pork is processed into specialty products between the months of September to January. These products proudly display the Authentic Products of the Pays-d’Enhaut label.
