Château-d'Oex - Sport
On your bike!
Lovers of mountain biking have an appointment in the Pays-d'Enhaut for a 24-hours competition.
The perfect way to test the strength of your calves. Founded last year by a group of enthusiasts, the VTT-24 race once again promises high excitement this summer in Château-d'Oex. For one weekend in late September, the world balloon capital will become a playground for two-wheelers. A nod to the mountain bike world championships that took place in the region in 1997. The format of the race is simple: pedal for 24 hours around a 4.3 km loop through beautiful landscapes and achieve the greatest number of solo or team rounds (groups of 2 to 8 riders).
Starting from the Landi grounds, the competitors will descend along roads, accross fields and through forest trails to a 22-meter wooden footbridge above the Sarine, built especially for the event. Excitement guaranteed! Younger mountain bikers can also take part in the weekend of festivities. They will have their own competition on Saturday: a gymkhana comprising twenty types of obstacles including waves, bridges, jumps and rockers. A perfect opportunity to excel at riding and to spend a memorable day of pure pleasure and fun. The icing on the cake. If the contest is held on Saturday, the gymkhana will remain open throughout the weekend.
