Balthus set up his workshop opposite the Grand Chalet in an annex that was once used as a garage. Even today, pigments and brushes still rub shoulders with the artist's barely touched canvases and unfinished works
The family has managed to keep this magical place intact to the point of leaving even its ashtray still full. Visitors will have the opportunity to immerse themselves in the intimacy of the painter guided by an interactive terminal and discover the place where he painted his last works.
Beware the studio is only open during the summer'! Don't miss this opportunity to discover it.
Moreover, during your walk through the village of Rossinière, you will be able to discover the Balthus Chapel An intimate place in memory of Balthus.
Located in the heart of the village of Rossinière, the Balthus Chapel is a space dedicated to the memory of the artist. It presents a new installation with an exclusive film by Wim Wenders about Balthus' studio. Balthus' library is also there so that everyone can deepen their experience of the artist's universe through books on his work but also through literary works that strongly influenced Balthus.
The library has been completely renovated with a short film by Wim Wenders based on a text he wrote about the painter.
