Your starting point is the charming village of Rougemont in the Vaud Alps. This one is famous for its wooden chalets with facades over a hundred years old! Walk down the main street and follow the direction of the castle.
Then take the wide packed path from the start of the La Videmanette cable car. The path takes you along the banks of the Saane into the heart of nature.
At the place called "le Vanel", cross the "Röstigraben": the name Swiss people use to refer to the cultural and language border between German and French-speaking Switzerland.
The next part of the trail takes you through the forest to the village of Saanen. With its village centre of chalets dating from the 15th to 18th centuries, it is considered one of the most beautiful villages in the Bernese Oberland.
