To share their passion for paper cutting, artists from all over Switzerland and France are presenting their work at Château-d'Oex for one weekend

Building on the success of the first four editions, Pays-d'Enhaut Région, in collaboration with the Pays-d'Enhaut Museum, is organizing the 5th Paper Cutting Days, on Saturday 11 and Sunday 12 July 2020. As the event grows, three venues in Château-d'Oex will be dedicated to this event: the passage under the railway station, the hall of Henchoz College and the Grande Salle. Close to 40 exhibitors from Switzerland and France, all with their own unique styles, will be in attendance to share their passion for cutting with the public, to demonstrate their art and to sell their work.

The following artists will be attending: Ursula Astner, Sepp-Joseph Astner, Lucrezia Beerli-Bieler, Jacques Bergholz, Gabrielle Berset, Marie-Laure Beun, Markus Blum, Céline Boutantin, Anne-Dominique Brandt, Marianne Dubuis, Corinne Favre-Savoy, Emmanuel Fornage, Alice Genoud, , Pierre-André Jaggi, Jean-François Jaquier, Lisa Jost, Corinne Karnstädt, Claudine Keller, Susanne Kübli, Stéphanie Lumeau, Jacqueline Macherel, Regina Martin, Silvain Monney, Pierre Mottier, Ariane Moullet, Camille Peitsch, Maxime Recoing, Marc Schweizer, Gaby Studer, Délia Zimmermann.

The Pays-d’Enhaut Museum will also have a stand in the Grande Salle: work on the new paper cutting centre opening in March 2020 will be presented, and works donated by the paper cutters will be exhibited and sold, the proceeds will go to the museum.

The “Association Suisse du Papier Découpé” will be located at the entrance to the railway underpass.

Saturday 11 July

From 10:30: Doors open and craftsmen start work at the event’s three locations.

10:30-12:30: Demonstrations of cheese-making at Le Chalet restaurant and demonstration dairy (www.lechalet-fromagerie.ch/)*

11:00: Opening ceremony, draw for the winner of the “Le Grand des Marques - 28 contemporary paper cutting artists” 2019 exhibition, welcome drink, launch of the “Le Grand des Marques – Earth & Nature” 2020 exhibition in the courtyard of Henchoz College*

13:30: Introduction to cutting at the Espace Ballon*

14h: Guided tour of the “Le Grand des Marques – Earth & Nature” exhibition starting from the railway underpass*

15h: Unveiling of a major cutting by Pierre Mottier and presentation in the Grande Salle *

15:30: Introduction to cutting at the Espace Ballon*

17:00: Doors close


Sunday 12 July

PARTICIPATION CONDITIONS FOR CUTTERS:

All cutting artists who draw and cut their own works can participate in the 5th Paper Cutting Days, by getting a stand at one of the venues scheduled for Saturday 11 and Sunday 12 July 2020. Artists wishing to exhibit for "Le Grand des Marques" must have a stand at the Paper Cutting Days so that the public can have direct contact with the creators of the works.
Registration must be done by 15 January 2020, preferably by e-mail to the following address: g.bousquet@chateau-doex.ch
Following their registration, participants will receive confirmation and information as to where and when to deposit the works.

The 3rd edition of the exhibition of reproduction cuttings, "Le Grand des Marques" will be launched on Saturday 11 July with the theme “Earth & Nature".
The selected work must be submitted, or sent by post (under your responsibility), to the Musée du Pays-d'Enhaut, Grand Rue 107, 1660 Château-d'Oex, between 15 February and 15 March 2020.
You can retrieve it on April 15, or pick it up at the museum during the Paper Cutting Days. In the meantime it will be stored safely and insured (see Insurance).

WORKS

Each artist may submit one work that meets the following criteria:
- drawn and cut by hand
- cut from paper or a similar material
- the required theme is "Earth & Nature"
- the proposed work must be harmonious and present sufficient detail to ensure that the effect on a large format tarpaulin attracts attention (the organizers reserve the right to make a selection)
- the format should be at least 30 x 20 cm with a 3/2 ratio
- it must be labelled on the back, with name, address, year of creation and title, as well as the insurance value or retail price


PARTICIPATION FEES

Postage is not paid by the organization. Photography and reproduction are entirely the responsibility of the organizers. The images belong to the organization.


INSURANCE

The works will be insured by the Musée du Pays-d'Enhaut from the date of submission to the date they are returned.
